My family has recently run into financial troubles and I need more financial aid from the community colleges I’m looking at (grants, scholarships, etc). What is the best way to ask for more financial aid from a school? What should I mention in my letter? Any other tips you can suggest?

and then it says
Answer Yes if you have received federal student grants, federal student loans, or Federal Work-study.

But I’ve never received any of those things. but ive received financial aid.

My mother has been looking at virtual school program so i can catch up, and be done with my schooling in 2012. She doesn’t make a lot of money, and was hoping to get financial aid.
