What is the average wait time for a college to process financial aid?
Filed Under Financial Aid | 4 Comments
I’m getting frustrated with the amount of time it’s taking my 2 yr. college to process my financial aid. I submitted the paperwork on the 28th of September and I’m still waiting for them to finish it. They’ve got 4 people for the entire college. I understand that, but on Nov. 10th I would have paid for the entire term. I was wondering if there is anything else I can do or if this length of time is normal. All they’ll tell me is that they are in “step 2″.

I just got accepted to a graduate program (tuition remission). I did my FAFSA and I put down I made 12,084 in 2009. How much financial aid would I receive during my first year? By the way, I get tuition remission and teacher assistantship.

Is it too late to get financial aid and get enrolled in community college?
Filed Under Financial Aid | 3 Comments
I have never went to college before and just decided I should do something about that, but I don’t know anything about it really. I did FAFSA once but then was just too busy working and with life to manage school too, so I never enrolled.
Is it too late to get financial aid and get enrolled in online classes starting next month?
I know it seems dumb to be asking on here instead of calling the school, but I’m looking for personal experience from someone who knows something about it.

how many college credits do I need to receive financial aid from fafsa?
Filed Under Financial Aid | 4 Comments
I am married and am taking 3 college credits (one class). We are paying for it out of pocket because I have money set aside for college that I have been using to pay my way. I only intend on getting my liberal arts degree as this is as far as I want to go. Can I get financial aid from fasa for only taking 3 college credits or do I need to take more credits to receive aid? Thanks!

Is financial aid for a university more than a community college?
Filed Under Financial Aid | 1 Comment
I am currently a student at a community college, and will be transferring to a university in the fall of 2010. I also receive financial aid. Do students who attend university( I know the tuition is higher there) receive more financial aid than students who attend a community college?

Fafsa and financial aid question: What if i want to change schools?
Filed Under Financial Aid | 2 Comments
I’ve recently decided to change my major from computer engineering to nursing but my school (a 4 year university) doesn’t offer the program so i will have to move to a close by community college to get my AA. Since I’ve already received the financial aid for this semester and next semester’s financial aid is also decided, will i get the same amount of money, if any, when i switch to a community college? Also, will i be required to pay back the money i was given for this semester since i might not complete the year?

This video will provide you with an overview of the student aid landscape and the most important sources of money for college. Mark Kantrowitz is a nationally recognized expert on student financial aid. He is the publisher of FastWeb.com, the most popular and most complete scholarship matching website. I am a student of the UC system and am disappointed that I am going to have to go broke in order to pay for my tuition.
I am planning on transferring to a different school/dropping out if my financial situation continues on like this.
I was wondering though if private schools still offer decent financial aid compared to this broken public UC system that I go to.
