My daughter is about to enter college. She filled out the FASA application and was denied.Since she has already filled out the FASA application, what should she do next to get grants, scholarships or other aid to help pay for college? Is the financial aid office going to help her with all the monies available for her,or is there other places or agencies that she need to be applying for these monies? What are her other choices out there?

For example, you use all 4 years financial aid to pay for college, but you still did not finish your undergraduate degree. And is there other way to apply for financial aid?

I am thinking about going to dental school for 4 years after college, but I will be getting married in between. My future husband will also be in school, getting his master’s, for 2 years. I am very worried about what our financial aid will be, since I will have college loans to pay off (I can borrow from parents). Dental school will be all on my own, though. Any idea what our financial aid will be like? Better or worse?

Could you ask financial aid to take money from next semester, including loans, grants, to pay for something for this semester. I know they would have to review your file but is this possible did anyone ever try?

Does dropping out of community college effect my eligibility for financial aid in the future at other schools?

I attended a community college for less than one semester and abruptly dropped out due to other obligations. I had received full financial aid for the semester and received a letter of academic probation shortly after the semester ended. I wasn’t and am not planning on returning to this school but does the fact I didn’t complete the semester and was put on academic probation affect my eligibility for financial aid in the future?

I’m going back to college and I’m a little lost as to what the first step is. I would love to be able to get some financial aid - hopefully some grants. What is the process for getting financial aid?

How should I handle my savings when applying for financial aid?

I have a good amount of money saved up in the bank, and soon I will be applying to colleges and all that jazz. I’ve been told that it’s best to take your savings OUT of the bank to receive better financial aid, but this doesn’t seem right to me.

When should I start bargaining my financial aid packages with all of the colleges I applied to?

I’ve applied to Miami University, Michigan, Notre Dame, and California. I’ve received a great financial aid package from Miami, but Michigan only offered me a federal subsidized loan($3500 a year) and being an out of state student, it’s rather expensive. I have yet to hear whether I was admitted to ND and Cal, but should I go ahead and call Michigan to see if they are willing to give me a comparable aid package?
I guess I should rephrase; sorry about that. All of the money I’m being given from Miami is strictly scholarships. Therefore, I was told at one point that once I receive all of the financial info, and I don’t get the best deal from my 1st choice, then I can say what other schools are offering me. I did read an article about a girl who applied to Cal and Harvard and she really wanted to go to Harvard. However, Cal gave her the better deal financially speaking and Harvard matched that amount.
