I cannot move in or go to my classes because my financial aid hasn’t kick in yet, and I was wondering how long does it take for it to be reviewed?

I want to apply for financial aid for college but I have concerns. I’m worried because even though I’m married, I file single to get my earned income tax credit. I use a different address and my husband files single also( he makes too much money for us to get earned income credit). Also should I use my current address( we own this house together)?
I have been told by friends to apply for financial aid as single also. Does anyone know if that’s a good idea or not? How soes financial aid work anyway? do they check everything with a magnifying glass? I just want to go to college.

Hi, next year I’ll be applying to Georgetown (my dream school), but i noticed that they dont give out any merit based scholarships except for sports (which dosent apply to me). However, Georgetown does offer financial aid. How poor does one have to be to qualify for financial aid?

My dad is a cabinet maker and my mom is a nurse, and together they earn about $100,000 before taxes. I have a brother and a sister that also need to go to college in 2-3 years. We have no college savings, but we do have A LOT of credit card debt.

I know I’m not poor, its just that we can in no way afford Georgetown! If accepted, is it likely that I will get financial aid?

I have to admit I was luck enough to have my parents pay for my entire undergraduate education. They are well off and I did not have to apply for financial aid or student loans.

I will be paying for my own graduate school and want to know how I go about applying for financial aid. Obviously I would prefer some assistance that I would not have to pay back, but would also take a low interest loan to supplement. I am 25, make $35,000 per year and do not live with my parents. Would I be likely to qualify for anything? How far in advance do I need to apply and do I need to know which school I going to for sure before I can? How do I get started? I would appreciate any advice. My parents did offer to pay for this, but I am looking to go an out of state school and would like to pay on my own and invest inmy own future. Thanks!

Could you ask financial aid to take money from next semester, including loans, grants, to pay for something for this semester. I know they would have to review your file but is this possible did anyone ever try?

I attend a local community college and I am a nursing major. I still live at home and I make 12K a year. My dad made 80k last year but has since lost his job.

I am wondering where to apply for financial aid and what my chances are of getting any?

Ok, so I have to apply for Financial Aid soon, but here’s the thing. My step-father isn’t paying anything at all for my college education, only my mom is. However, their income tax is filed together, so he makes a lot of money and my mom very little. I don’t know what to do, because I won’t get much financial help if my step-father’s tax reports are in there. Will I get financial aid?
