Welcome to the first installment of ePrep’s coverage of college financial aid. I am excited to introduce Don Betterton as the site’s most recent guest expert. Don was the director of financial aid at Princeton University for thirty (30) years. During his time at Princeton, aid awards increased from $3.4 million in 1973-74 to $65 million in 2005-06. In this video, Don discusses the simple things you can do now, while your children are young, to help make paying for college easier when they are older and ready to enroll.

The fafsa was due a couple weeks ago, and I got my confirmation. I was just wondering how the results work. Will I get a letter from colleges with my personal financial aid information? How long will it take before I know something? Thanks!

Can my financial aid be split up into two quarters for winter and spring?
Filed Under Financial Aid | 1 Comment
I only have financial aid left for the upcoming winter quarter and was planning on going full time in the winter. I need to take a class in the spring as well and was wondering if I could be able to get the financial aid split to cover part time for winter quarter and part time for spring instead of just full time for Winter. Any feedback from someone with experience in this would be appreciated. Thank you.

I understand that you apply with the FAFSA, but how do you go about that? Does a college have to accept you before you try to get financial aid? Do you put the colleges you want aid from on the form? Can your application still be pending while you apply for aid?
Please help.

I have been disqualified for financial aid for this upcoming semester of school. So I have been looking at a collegiate loan from my local bank. The loan requires certification from my school that the loan amounts I ask for are correct for my tuition and fees. Will it be possible for me to get a Collegiate Loan or is this considered financial aid? If this is considered financial aid, what are my other options for getting money to pay for my loans? Please no spam posts…
Sorry, that last word should say tuition, rather than loans.
